This year I signed up for 2 running races and I may sign up for a 3rd. Actually my New Years Resolution was to run in 3, with one being the Main Street Mile. Which I did not do because I had to work on the Friday evening that it was held on. (Stupid Job)
In January, I was one of the first people to mail in the registration form for the Seattle Marathon. My fat butt has never been a runner, but after reading many books about running and even watching inspiring movies about running, I feel like I could and will be a runner.
Last week, I got a wild hair and signed up for a Half Marathon – Run For The Hills , just ‘cuz I wanted to get a race in before the Seattle. It sounds like the Director knows what she is doing. Despite it being in Fruitland, Idaho. They will have oranges and bananas at every water station, Hammer Nutrition gels, and Cytosport for the sports drink. Thank goodness it is not Powerbar. Since Powerbar is in Boise, it seems they are involved with every race in the area. Nice to see another company involved with events.
I have never entered in a running race. I have volunteered in the City of Trees Marathon a few years ago as a massage therapist giving runners massages after they finished running. I may decide that I want to run the City of Trees Marathon, but just the Half. It is the week after Run For the Hills. With me not much of a runner (I am a Slogger- Slow Jogger) I do not know if I will have a knee blowout, or missing toenails, or something else horribly painful that will ruin my Seattle trip. Plus, I think that the course looks boring.
The YMCA Christmas Run is in December, I am seriously thinking about that. I think I like the course a little more then the COTM, but I don’t like the cold. So, we will see what happens if I enter or not.
Do you run in the area? Do you do multiple events in a month? Are you a beginning runner?
