So, since I am trying to take this running thing seriously, I thought I should do what I noticed a lot of runners already have.
I got me a Garmin.
I did buy the 405CX. I figured, I would look more hardcore if I got one.
I was actually looking into buying a Bodybugg (again) to track calories in/out. But I did not want to run with that thing on my arm. I had one a little over a year ago (which I loved and lost 10 pounds with) but the strap actually bothered my arm at times. I figured it would be bothering my arm while I ran. Getting all sweaty and really annoying me.
Plus I think it is embarrassing to wear. People seeing it on your arm and figuring you think you are a fatty or that you just wasted a few hundred bucks on something that is not going to work.
Or is that just me?
Anyways, I bought a Garmin. There were quite a few people that had the orange one yesterday for the run – the 305 or 310. Whichever. But that seems too hardcore for me. I was looking at the 610 but I think it did a little much then what I need it to do. I don’t care if I can wear it in the pool or want to spend over $300 on something that I may or may not use for more then a year. I was actually looking at the FR60 because it does the heart rate stuff, and was cheap. But decided to buy the 405cx because it is rechargeable and wireless. And came with the HR monitor and ANT Stick and I got an ok deal on it.
Next on my running purchase list (besides another pair of shoes – I hate white shoes!) is going to be a pair of sunglasses that don’t slip off my sweaty face and look good on my big round melon. Any suggestions?
What do you think? Do you have a Garmin? What do YOU use them for? Are they worth it?
