This weekend I decided to get me a little something that I wanted of my own for a while now. I got a foam roller at Target. $17 with a 15 minute DVD. I have used it and I made the BF try it out too. I really liked using the roller on the base of the head and the lower back. (Using it on my quads KILLED!) The BF has back pain and I thought it would be good for him.
He cussed me out and threw the roller at me because it hurt so bad. lol
Then he tried it again about an hour later and, well, if the torture device roller doesn’t come up broken or missing, I will be a very lucky girl. I really wish I could have gotten a pic of him using the roller but we all know how it feels and how we look using it. It is not pretty for sure!
Using the roller was the extent of my physical activity for this weekend. A weekend which involved watching 4 movies, Whipped Vodka, pizza, Thai food with the BFs fam & kiddies – and Team Exergy was at the Thai place too. I wish I woulda gotten a pic with them because they are all young & fit. But BFs mom thinks that cell phones are rude…
Monday, I did feel the need to do a little bit of activity. I know my abs have been neglected and are looking a little softer then normal. I have some of the Insanity set on my iTunes. There is a Cardio Abs that I have never done before. Actually, I have had Insanity for well over a year and never done more then start the Fit Test. I threw my back out doing that over a year ago and walked crooked for a week. But I needed to get some Ab work in and just went with Insanity. My abs are weak and my form sucked. I know I can hold a plank for about a minute or more. Insanity you do straight arm spider planks, then you switch it to your forearms and do the spider planks there. Then you go back up to regular straight arm for 8 counts then back to forearms for 8 counts. Back and forth for a bit.
I wanted to know my calorie burn is so I can log it into Livestrongs Daily Plate. Livestrong doesn’t have a drop down for how many calories burned for Insanity, but they did have a link to how to calculate calorie burn with your heart rate.
Divide your weight in pounds by 2.2 to convert to kilograms. For men, multiply your average heart rate by 0.6309 to find A, your weight by 0.1988 to find B, and your age by 0.2017 to find C. Add A, B and C, then subtract 55.0969 and divide by 4.184. For women, multiply your average heart rate by 0.4472 to find A, your weight by 0.1263 to find B, and your age by 0.074 to find C. Add A and C, subtract B, and then subtract 20.4022 and divide by 4.184. The result of either equation gives you the number of calories burned per minute, so multiply it by the number of minutes you exercised. Do I really want to do math after a workout? No. But I did find a site that does it for me.
Tonight after work, I would really like to get a easy run in. I have 2 miles on the schedule with an 18 miler due on Saturday! Yelp!
Have you ever done Insanity? How long can you hold a plank for?
