Workout today – the Bob Harper 10 minute workouts on Totally Ripped Core and Beginners Abs.
Last night at work I had a huge urge to start doing burpees. I hate them but they do get the heart rate up and I believe they are a very effective calorie burning tool.
It is a turn on your oven type of day. With the temps starting this week that were near 90, they are in the 50’s today with high wind gusts and some rain. It is a turn on oven & bake something type of weather.
And my weight says I am 12.5 pounds down today. I am either dehydrated or I am really losing something from somewhere. And yes, I do weigh myself nearly everyday, and just kinda follow the trend if things stay up or down and don’t freak out on the numbers. So far, its been going down.
So, on that note – what is possibly the best thing that you can do if you are potentially losing weight and it is cold outside?
Bake cookies.
Food Porn Daily had a cookie about 2 weeks ago and I printed out the recipe. I had everything other then hazelnuts and a chocolate bar in the kitchen. I had raw almonds from Costco, which I used instead, and got a Sweet Dark Lindt bar at the store.
The BF doesn’t eat sweets. Ever. So if I make something like cookies or pie, I usually have to eat it all or throw most of it out because he won’t touch it. These made just the right amount of cookies where he will eat, and I will eat, and it won’t be like, binge central. I imagine doubling the recipe would work good too.
Mine were not so crispy, and I could have left them in a minute or two longer. And I could have sprinkled more almonds and chocolate on, but I am happy with the finished result.
Chocolate & Almond Honey Cookies (adapted from I Adore Food)
3.5 Tablespoons of butter
2 Tablespoons of honey
1/3 Cup brown sugar
1/3 Cup flour
1/2 Teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 egg whites
1/2 Cup raw chopped almonds
1/2 Cup dark chocolate, chopped
Preheat oven to 350.
Chop almonds and chocolate. Set aside.
Heat butter and honey in a saucepan on low heat until melted.
In medium bowl, add brown sugar, flour, vanilla, and egg whites. Slowly wisk in melted butter and honey until smooth.
Line cookie pan with parchment. Spoon mixture (I used 2 regular spoon fulls) and spread into 4 inch circle. (or blob, like mine were.) About an inch apart. Sprinkle almonds and chocolate onto each cookie and bake for 8-10 minutes, until golden brown. (Mine were fine at 8)
Nom.
Do you ever have the urge to do something, like burpees at random places? I walk a few miles at work every night, so I am active, but the need to do burpees was a new one.
Do you have a tasty cookie recipe to share?
