Happy Birthday To Me

Posted on May 9, 2012 by runinboise

Happy Birthday to me.

You know how I celebrated the start of my birthday on midnight at work? (I actually am not taking my birthday off. Why can’t all birthdays be on a weekend day?)

Burpees, pushups, squats, crunches. One for every year. So, I did 22 of each.

Ok, 24. 😉

Sunday, for the BFs birthday, we had a shot of Wild Turkey. And our birthday shot (which I found out Vista Bar doesn’t do free birthday shots – shame on them! Looks like Neurolux is my preferred birthday celebration location because I know they give free birthday shots) made me want to really enjoy another, but I refrained.

Actually, I think this weekend, I will be taking in a cocktail or 4 at the Modern.

I also made sure to sign up for lots of restaurants deals for birthday goodies this year because I like being a cheapskate. I like it when places give you a week (or all month) to use the goodies and not just on your birthday day. I don’t want to go for a free b-day meal alone on my birthday at lunch, when I don’t work and others are working. I would rather go with someone, like on the weekend. Businesses are missing out on my business.

So far, some of the goodies I get to take advantage of are a free cone at Baskin Robins, free shake at Del Taco, free drink at Starbucks, free dinner at Murphy’s. Oh, and I filled up my punch card at Dutch Bros. today, so my next one is free.

I don’t think I will be getting my standard long run in on Saturday with everything I need to do. I will try to get as many miles during the week to help burn off those free sweets.

Anyways, I did get registered yesterday for the Stanley Half Marathon. And with some extra birthday money I received, I am seriously considering doing the City of Boise Road Racing Series.

It is 3 races, which you don’t have to do all 3 but signing up for all 3 gets you a discount. And I think prices went up May 1st, so I missed out on the cheapest fee. The 3 races are Fit For Life 10K or half, Payette Lake 8.6 Mile or 30K, And the City of Trees Half or Full Marathon. You can either choose from the short of long course when signing up for the series. I am thinking of doing the short because I don’t want to run a 30K in 2.5hours, and I don’t want to do the full City of Trees marathon. I have never done a race series and I think it would be fun.

I just added it up. The race series is $85 instead of $110 separately. Not too bad of a deal.

I guess one of my birthday presents to myself will have to be put on the back burner possibly for a race. Although I could go for this instead…
