My next half marathon, City of Trees, is 10 weeks away. Not very far off. Half marathon #5 for me!
Once I completed Seattle, I have not followed any sort of running plan. Just kinda did whatever mileage I wanted by feel and time constraints. As confident as I may be with completing another half without following a training plan, I decided to plug in all of my info into the Runners World Smart Coach.
I feel that I have a pretty good base mileage comfort level. Although I feel like I have stagnated a bit the past 3 months.
So far this summer, I noticed that I can get faster. Wow, even this week has had proof. I know I have it in me to push a little harder then what I always do. Other then the insane heat of the past 2 months keeping me indoors, away from a treadmill and decreasing my mileage, I have noticed a slight trend of my miles staying consistently in the 11’s and drifting more and more into the 10’s. Reflecting on how I felt on my 90 degree run on Wednesday was proof and the kick in the running skirt that I needed.
I may be fat, but I am stronger and faster then what I was a year ago. The plan above I may or may not follow, since it is a very generous goal of 2:11 (which probably isn’t realistic or healthy) and only 10 weeks away. But in all honesty, I am cool with anything under 2:30, which will be another half marathon PR. This will just guide me into a potentially faster direction.
When do you decide to PR? Every race? A goal race? How do you figure out your training plan? A 20 minute PR in 10 weeks – doable?
