I did another 5K – my 10th one of the year! Although I believe it was my slowest time of the year. I had to go to Boise on a Friday (which is a 2 hour drive) so I decided to make it a 2 day trip and sign up for a Saturday morning 5K. This was in support for MSA and the race was called Move Over MSA.

I spent a good deal of the week before focusing on eating clean and hydrating like a MoFo. I have had such cruddy runs and my legs have been tight and crampy, so I was hoping to have a good run on Saturday. I of course didn’t get to sleep until way late and started the race morning with 5 hours of sleep. Never pleasant, but I knew I could nap after if needed.
I had 2 Starbucks Vias with extra Stok shots and 1 slice of leftover pizza. Not the best pre-workout, but at least I ate something 3+ hours before the race start.
I think I have been away from Boise too long, since I could not remember how to get to the high school where the race started. We finally made it there but the school, which had football and volleyball practice going on, had no way to find the school potties indoors. I was sad. There were 2 portapotties at the race start and used those but was looking forward to a real toilet pre-race.
Definitely not my fastest 5k time this morning. More like my slowest 5k of the 10 I’ve done this year! Still had fun running for a good cause – MSA. #boise #boiserunner #likeagirl #livingintv #run #runner #runnergirl #running #runnerscommunity #runnersofinstagram #run365 #teambeef #teambeefidaho #womenshealth #whstrong #teamwr #teamsparkle #womensfitness #womensrunningcommunity #womensrunning #thisisboise #werunsocial #divasrunning #fleetfeetmeridian #worlderunners #runforit #sweatpink #girlsgonesporty #fitfluential @womensrunningmagazine
I picked up my bib and race shirt. I was the only one blinged out with my Team Beef shirt and sparkle skirt. I felt like a sore thumb sticking out. About 90% of the participants were in the race shirt. But the, I assume, the directors were super nice and seemed really grateful that people were out there showing their support for the race. They did personally say thank you for coming out.
At the start, the race started a few minutes late. There was a pre-race raffle and gave away some good goodie baskets. I didn’t win but 2 or 3 people who won had my same TS initials so I guess I was close. 🙂
And everyone wore the race shirts. I was one of a very small handful that didn’t!
The race had an OK route. It started at the school track, around the soccer and football fields – the grass was still wet and had some ankle breaking ruts. It went along the main road and was ran through the residential area surrounding the school and back to the school parking lot and back around the soccer and football fields and track.
It was somewhat smokey from the wildfires and I had a hard time with the breathing. My legs were acting like I was running through mud and didn’t want to move. So I took walk breaks. Only the top male & female won stuff so no age group awards so I wasn’t going for first so I didn’t care about my time.
Plus I had PokemonGo to play. I have eggs to hatch! I’m a level 20 now.
I finished in an abysmal 38 minutes. Yikes! I knew I was going slow but I didn’t think I was THAT slow. What in the world happened to my running ability?!?
Post race, there was so much water available (it was a hot hot day) bagels, uncut bananas and oranges. There was so much post race food and water available, I don’t think the runners made a dent in what was available. I really was impressed.

Also on the course, as you can see on the map, there was a lot of roads we crossed. At nearly every one of those, there were volunteers. I honestly think that there were as many volunteers as runners. I felt confident running the course as it was well marked with lots of blue arrows directing the way. So many races now don’t have as many volunteers and course markings. So this was a refreshing change.
Post race, there was a few yard sales to hit (we bought 3 Tag Heuer watches) and then brekky. The last few 5K’s I’ve been hitting up Le Peep. I really enjoy their biscuits and gravy a little too much.
Seriously so good. I ate way more then I should have. My plate it on the right, the other half had the other 2 plates. I think his was the 18 Wheeler and mine was the Homestead.
Then hit some thrift stores. I found this pizza tie and was tempted to buy it because of my love of pizza. But decided not to.
How was your weekend? Any races? Do you know anyone with MSA?
