Half Marathon Training Week 1

Posted on February 4, 2019 by runinboise

I’m going to be kicking myself in the butt to get in back into gear. Both on blogging and both on working out. I was doing good at the end of the year with both my diet and exercise, but I was totally over training and my body was letting me know that it needed a break. I took too long of a break. I lost the momentum that I had but the month off was very much needed.

During this time off, I knew I had to follow a plan for the half marathon in April I am training for. II am too good at taking extra rest days and going crazy on the miles. So I searched and asked around and googled and decided on the Hal Higdon Half Marathon Novice 2 plan

Sunday According to my training plan, Sunday’s will always be rest days – for the next 12 weeks!

Monday

Total shit run and my fault for drinking too much the night before. I was watching the Marie Kondo show and was really into it. I went to bed at 2am. Woke up too early and stayed in bed too long. And I had a fast food mystery shop right before this run so it was crappy. 3 miles scheduled 3 miles completed. The wind picked up while finishing my run but the weather was 43° and actually sunny and felt warm. The birds (mostly robins and wood peckers) along the path had Spring Fever and were all over the place. I’m still using the Transform App. My mystery shop put me over on my fat macros for the day. My protein was good but gotta get back in the food tracking groove.
Monday’s run.

Tuesday
Today was a great run. I started out earlier and it was 10 degrees cooler then yesterday. There were so many people on the path walking and riding bikes. It was crazy. Spring fever is a real thing! I made sure to go up and down a hill an extra time to get a little speed in my leggies – 8:30 pace the first section, 6:00 pace on the second section. I felt so dang good afterwards that if I was not following the workout plan I set for myself, I would have done more and more and that would have been bad.

Tuesday

Wednesday
Dinner was a dinner out Tuesday evening and I overate the night before. Mandatory entree, drink and dessert. Half my entree went home with me, but I really felt it for today’s slog. I spend almost all of my 3 miles walking and talking with the other half about our future.

Thursday According to my training plan, like Sunday’s Thursday’s will always be rest days for the next 12 weeks. I used today to get some errands completed out of town.

Friday
I slept super well Thursday night, and was excited to complete my weekly “long” run. Starting out my long runs at 4 miles. I dresses super cute, the weather was 50 degrees, I had a fresh hair cut. It all played out to a good run!

Saturday
This was supposed to be a cross training day, but I just used it as a cheat day. It was a good and relaxing day all around!
