Ugh. Is there anyone that does not have a canceled race yet? I am seriously glad that we are all together in the pain of this.
I got word on Thursday that my Race to Robie Creek half marathon is canceled and won’t be happening the 3 Saturday in April. I am sad because this is the only race I care about all year.

But then I got an email for my St. Patty’s Day 5K on Saturday the 14th is still on, but without water stops and post-race snacks.

That is totally cool. I never drink water in the middle of 5Ks so its no big deal to me.
On Friday night I was prepping for the morning. I decided to confirm on the website the start time.

Oh, look. Its canceled. Did I get an email about this? It went to my spam folder so it was there and they did let us know. They were gonna still mark the course, so I did appreciate that.
I had pulled my green race outfit out of storage and I just purchased a new green tank top.
I was gonna trot it anyways. I did buy my Gone For A Run virtual run to get my shirt. I already had a bib and medal so all I had to do was get my miles in.
I was planning on getting up at 8am and heading down to the start line and trot at 9:30. But I woke up at 5am and went back to sleep at 6:30am. Before I fell back asleep I turned off my alarm and would get up whenever I got up. I woke up at 10am and did some errands and completed my miles in the afternoon after it warmed up.
I like the options of virtual runs right now. I enjoy them but I don’t. I always run alone so its just another training run for me. I do like adding to my medal collection but I also like races where I am with other people. I probably won’t sign up for more.
The only thing I was training for was the Robie Creek Half Marathon. But now, like everyone else out there, my training plans are out the window.
What is my next race and where am I in my training plans? I don’t know. I had an MRI on my knee on Friday because my knee keeps swelling. I know I have arthritis in it, but its not bad enough for my swelling issues. Its either because I am overweight, have bad form, my muscles are tight or weak. I did get new shoes with inserts and it helped with the shin splints I gave myself in January. But for the cause, I am not sure. I will focus on healing the cause of my issues. I can lose more weight before the next half marathon I do, I can strength train some more and stretch more regularly.
I am glad for the cancellations but I am not. I don’t like to be out the money and time, but I want the time to find out my knee issues. I am thankful that we are not alone in all of this.
Did you have any race cancellations? Did they reschedule or defer your registration for next year? Did they give a money back option? What is your training plan like with this little blip in the calendar?
