I don’t know about all of you, but I’ve been happily hedonistic during this new Corona-virus quarantine. I have not been working out since my gym was closed, staying up way too late, waking up whenever I want, and making desert every night.

We all need a little comfort during these stressful times and sitting on the couch with my Netflix and a sweet treat is one thing that makes me happy.

It appears that nearly half of women have gained weight the last couple of months according to a WebMD poll.
Some articles out there say you shouldn’t stress about the weight gain, but others say its not a joking matter.
I’m in the Not A Joking Matter camp. Weight gain is uncomfortable, both physically and mentally. And I am going to do something about it one baby step at a time.
Running is uncomfortable for me at this weight. I am slower, I breathe harder and heavier. I don’t have light and quiet footsteps. My feet hurt, and thigh rubbing is more then annoying.
I am going to focus on walking more everyday this week. And not just to the fridge either!

One of the Meetups I have joined since moving back to Boise is having a 7 day challenge of getting in 6k steps a day. I think this is a good idea for me right now as I think I may be having a divot in the couch cushion from sitting on it so much!
I know I need to move more and I am going to commit to this 7 day challenge. And there are so many ways to get in a few extra steps without having to make it such a slog. I always try to park a little further away from the front entry to the stores and its a habit now.

When I talk on the phone, I always pace back and forth. I know I have walked a couple of miles on extremely long phone calls.
I like to walk, run, and even bike some of my errands. I live close enough to grocery stores and the post office to get there by foot.
When I am sitting watching Netflix, I always have to pause the show I am watching and get up to walk a couple of steps and stretch. It’s too easy to stay stagnate on the couch when its binge watching time!
What tips do you have for getting in more steps throughout the day?
