You may have noticed some changes here. I even told you what it was on Instagram!
The RunInBoise blog got started in 2011 when I was preparing for my first marathon. I was inspired by all of the running blogs I was reading at the time. It was a way to share and document my running New Years Resolution to run a marathon from being a non-runner!

But this has been something that has been bothering me for a while. I wanted to get away from the “RunInBoise”. I was OK with it when I first went with it but I wasn’t 100% OK with it. When we moved from Boise to the Twin Falls area, I was not happy with being “RunInBoise” because I was not running in Boise. I was running in Twin Falls! I was selling wine at the time so I thought RunningAndWineing would be a good fit. It was fine until we moved back to Boise a couple of months ago and I changed back to “RunInBoise”
I just wasn’t feeling the same way about “RunInBoise” as I had. It was a mental struggle to find a name for myself. I wanted something more personal then Running In Boise. And after some life changes (moving back to Boise and just recently breaking up with my toxic BFF) I was looking for more of a change. Its still a #NewYearNewMe feeling.
I threw a couple of names at Google. Then tried a couple on Twitter. Then Instagram. The one I wanted wasn’t available on Instagram and you only get 2 chances to try a name before they make you take a 2 week cool down before trying again. I get a little time before I switch everything over on all my social media sites but I feel like that is a good thing. I get to prepare a few blog posts with a real domain and make sure this site is how I like it before my “grand opening.” Tanya Goes Running is a better fit in my opinion. More personal to me and as long as I am running, it is relevant!
Have you ever made a blog or social media name change?
